Money Well Spent

This is an actual email message that Stephanie sent to me this past week:

Brian -
With the snow here, I had to order boots and socks for Jacob. His feet got cold several times last year, so I bought boots and four pair of wool socks for he and Toby to share when we're outside. It was $70 from Big Ray’s. I feel bad ordering when we just talked about money last night, but we live in Alaska... kind of a must have...
Love you.

And, you know, she is totally right. I felt bad last year when Jacob was running around barefoot for most of the winter. And his feet did get cold. Several times. So now we have boots and four pair of socks for Jacob and Toby to share. Maybe Jacob can wear the boots while Toby wears the four pair of socks. Then they can switch out. Yes, this winter they’ll be much warmer. Thank you Stephanie!

Hehehee, people have been saying cost of living in AK is so high..... and sharing boots and socks seemed logical until you realize that both toddlers are now bipeds. Reminds me of this foreign movie we saw last year about a boy and a girl sharing one worn out tennis shoes.

Ok, we do actually have TWO pair of boots. :-) It was a poorly worded email... What I meant was that I bought four pair of wool socks for the boys to share when we play outside since cotton socks don't keep the feet warm at 30 below.
