I'll Be Here All Week
It began with NaNoWriMo – a pretty good idea, whoever thought of it. It morphed into NaBloPoMo, another good idea that has exploded in popularity. Defective Yeti pioneered his own NaNoReMo, which I discovered last November and by which I was most impressed. But now I think things are getting out of hand. There is one blogger I read with some frequency who is posting a picture of her footwear every day this month. It turns out she is not alone, but that many are participating in NaBloShoeMo. I have no interest whatsoever in what shoes anyone wears every day. It’s not worth the time it takes for the page to load.
This is day six of having Jacob at school, and there are times when I just want to throw in the towel. He is really great at school: well behaved, and even participates at a pretty high level with the kindergarteners and other elementary kids when they are working on crafts or during story time. The problem is that he is such a ham. Most any teacher will tell you, it’s hard enough to get students’ attention. But with Jacob the Entertainer on stage, it’s really impossible. Any time he gets a giggle he immediately shifts into a song and dance routine and starts yukking it up for the kids. “Thanks folks, you’ve been a great audience. Be sure to tip your waitress. I’ll be here all week.”
