Sarah Update

Hi all,

Sarah was admitted into the hospital yesterday after not gaining weight.  She was born at 7lbs, 4oz, and grew to about 7lbs, 11oz, then stopped.  We admitted her yesterday to feed her from a feeding tube and help her start gaining, but once she was hydrated, we found out that she had a heart murmur.  She had an EKG, chest x-ray, and echocardiogram that is showing a heart condition.  The doctor here believes that her vein coming from her lungs to the heart with oxygenated blood is not connected in the right place causing her to be weak and not want to eat.  The condition (TAPRV) is not common and requires surgery.

Brian was flown with Sarah to Anchorage for further evaluation by a pediatric cardiologist.  I am getting everyone settled here and then will fly wherever they are.  If they are still in Anchorage, I'll go there.  If she's having immediate surgery, I'll fly to wherever that is - probably Portland, OR, or Seattle, WA.  Brian is going to ask about having the surgery in Dallas since so much of our family is there.  We will let you know.

Jan is coming up here right now to stay with the kids.  She is a tremendous blessing to our family and has really stepped up in times of need.  I am fully confident that they'll be in good hands since she's been here so recently and knows their routine, likes, and dislikes. She also has a good rapport with Jamiee and that will be important at this time.

My hands are shaking as I type this.  Our church here is being incredibly supportive with meals and prayers.  Our freinds here have also been fantastic helping out with the boys while we're at the hospital and Jamiee is at school.
